Introduction

This was made with Adobe Photoshop 2023 and Clip Studio Paint EX
This week’s Art task, I had to learn about Character Design, Learning about Shaping the body by using multiple shapes to make the structure, Is the Character Human, Monster, Fauna, etc. What Clothes will they have on, will it be Casual, Formal, Scary, Heroic, etc.
My Character Idea
I wanted to recreate Aureline L.M Musashi again from my Week 1 Art Task. So I went with making her again and make a few changes to her Character if needed.
Reference Image

This is the image I used to help with drawing my Characters body type and learn to draw a 3/4 view of the body. Each of them show the stage of making the character from basic shapes, adding the body, details, further details, cleaning up and finally the ‘Final Design’ of the body/Character.
Creation – Circles

I sketched out some Circles to decide how tall my character is going to be. Aureline is 6f 2in, so I went with 8 Circles for now. This will help with mapping out where the body parts will be and where to branch for the Arms and Legs

Creation – Body Structure

Now added more shapes to represent a Torso and Pelvis. Added in more Circles and Lines to add the anatomy of the Arms, Legs and Feet. Now I have a rough idea what the body will look like for the Character.

Creation – 3/4 (Body Shape)

The drawing of the body is more solid and put in a 3/4 view. Now I added in her Head/Chin, Hands, Body Shape/Limbs (Arms, Legs, Body, Shoulders and Neck), Fauna Ears and Tail.

Creation – Rough Final Design (Further Body Detail)

Removing all the basic shapes to make a basic detailed body, the sketch has been cleaned out more and look less rough. Made basic coverup clothes for the body and gave more details to the Feet and Hands by adding Fingers.

Creation – Clean Final Design (Adding Clothes)

Using a more smoother Pencil, traced slowly over the rough lines to make the lines look natural as possible. added more depth to the feet, made the head a bit bigger, added hair a bit over the ear and added the T-shirt and Shorts.
Final Design

Adding the last touches to the piece by adding in the Colours I want to use to make the Character stand out. The Colour will also help to show what kind of Character she could be from first glance at the Artwork. (But could be deceiving as well)

What was Challenging to me?
Getting the body parts and the 3/4 in the way I wanted was proving to be a challenge, but got it in the end and I was happy. Making the shoes proved to be difficult so I left that part out and only draw in the Socks, making it look like the character is indoors.
What Have I Learned?
I have learned the stages of making a body type and slowly build to a fleshed out body design. I learned how to make a drawing of the body on a 3/4 view and clean it out for Artwork.
